All ages welcome
Work on a variety of art projects using paint, clay, charcoals and other materials. Learn about artists and the cultures they came out of. No previous experience necessary!
Ages 6-11
This class will teach children beginning ballet in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. In addition to learning ballet basics, kids will use their imaginations as they explore creative movement. The class helps to improve confidence, posture, grace, coordination and self-esteem. No previous experience necessary!
All ages
This computer class is for anyone -- young or old -- who wants to learn the basics of using a computer. Learn how to surf the Internet, write and send email, and use popular programs like Microsoft Word. The class will also cover how to choose, buy, upgrade and maintain a computer. The class covers both the Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
All ages welcome
Learn to read music and understand rhythm, make drums and practice beats, explore different styles of drumming from around the world.
Ages 18 and up
It's never too late to continue your education! Earning your high school diploma opens up a world of opportunities, including going to college, getting a great new job, and earning more money. Open to city residents, our GED classes help you prepare for the General Educational Development test. (Requires a $15 fee, payable to Richmond Public Schools.)
Ages 10 and up
Learn how to make your own clothes from cloth and found materials, plus learn how to design and screen print T-shirts.
Ages 10-17
The Girl Scouts program offers exciting trips and a chance to try new activities and connect with other girls!
Open during program hours. High speed and wireless internet access is generously provided by Comcast.
Ages 8 & up
Learn basic modern dance concepts and technique in a fun and creative format. Classes include elements of jazz dance, hip hop and ballet. No previous experience necessary!
Ages 3 & 4
Children, ages 2.6 to 5 years old, learn languages (including Spanish!), math, geography and much more in a safe, loving and self-paced environment. Learn more »
Ages 10 & up
Express yourself through music! Write your own songs, poems and stories and earn a pass into the NRC recording studio. Young writers will have an opportunity to perform songs or read poems at community events and publish their works in a community newsletter.Learn more »
Ages 10 and up
Hosted by the community organization "Generation Y." Learn about healthy lifestyles and staying safe.
Ages 6-10
Learn simple vocabulary and about the people who speak Spanish in other countries.
Ages 6 and under
Join us for Story Time in the NRC Tot Library. We read stories geared for younger children (ages 6 and under), sing songs and play games to encourage a lifelong love of reading and books. Then, take home a book to read at home! Each child must be accompanied by parent or older child (12 and up).
Adults & Youth (Ages 8 and up)
Taught by a black belt, people ages 6 to 46 are learning to kick, punch and block, while having a great time. Tae Kwon Do is a martial art which helps develop basic self-defense skills, discipline, coordination and confidence. Kids that show up at least six times get a uniform. Learn at your own pace, in a cooperative, non-competitive learning environment. New students are always welcome!
Open during program hours. Thanks to a generous grant from the United Way Success by Six program, the NRC has created a special library geared for young children. In addition to new books, the library offers games, puzzles and plenty of chairs to curl up in with a great book.
Available for both children and adult students
We offer tutoring to help students of all ages -- from children to adults. Our volunteers help students with a variety of subjects, from reading and writing, to math and science.
Ages 13 & up
Trips and special activities for young men.
Ages 8 and up
Learn basic construction skills using hammer and nail, make banks and bird houses and other projects.
