Michael Pollan and Marion Nestle Visit NRC

Authors Michael Pollan and Marion Nestle visited the Fulton Hill Learning Garden at the Neighborhood Resource Center on Saturday, April 18. Fulton youth got a chance to speak to the renowned advocates of the local, organic food movement. Pollan, whose recent books include In Defense of Food and The Omnivore’s Dilemma, champions local urban gardens like the one at the NRC as a way to improve nutrition, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and foster energy independence. Nestle, who is also a microbiologist and professor at New York University, has also authored several books on nutrition and food politics. The kids showed the authors the NRC Café, where organic fruits and vegetables harvested from the garden will be prepared.
