Run to the River - Approximately 70 runners, walkers and "fundrunners" turned out Saturday, October 18 for the 2008 Rocketts Landing Run to the River 10K Hill Run and 5K Walk. More than 40 dedicated volunteers braved the chilly morning and pointed the way as runners sprinted over hills and down cobblestone streets. "It was the most challenging 10K I've ever run," said Peter Lurie, the first-place winner and an East End resident.
Runners, walkers and volunteers celebrated at the NRC, where they sampled food from Ellwood Thompson's Local Market, free massages and consultations from alternative therapy practitioners, and enjoyed music by Hotel X. Thanks to all of our generous sponsors, volunteers, fundraisers and participants who made Run to the River such a success! With your help, we raised three times more funds than last year's event; all proceeds directly support the NRC.
